I am in the United States and have traveled in the US, Canada and parts of Europe. I do not speak Japanese, but have been interested in Japan and its culture for some time. I would like to experience life in a Japanese city and compare it to, say, New York or Paris, and also visit some interesting other sites there.
I am at the start of my inquiry. But any general tips and tidbits of information would be very helpful - personal experiences if possible.
