It’s about 11 hours from Los Angeles to Tokyo.
About 13 from Chicago.

It’s quicker coming back, ’cause the jetstream blows west to east and you get a nice tailwind — I’ve made the return trip (Tokyo to LA) in 8 hours!

The flight on a B747 would be around 11-13 hours,depending on which part of USA,but it would only be a matter of one or two hours more even you are flying from LA or NewYork.
